Kern River

We had so much fun playing in the river by our campsite. The water was swift moving, and the girls liked floating down stream. On the first day they just floated in their life vests, but then we decided to invest in a tube. The tube was better because they didn't hit their knees and feet on all the rocks.

One of us would walk with the girls upstream, and then float down steam with them to the other of us. We will definitely come back.

Kern River fishing

S and J got fishing poles last Christmas. They have enjoyed fishing around the house and in the back yard and have been gaining a lot of practice. They have repeatedly asked their daddy when he was going to take them fishing, so this trip was officially their first time fishing.

S was so determined to catch a fish. We saw many, but unfortunately the fish were not hungry.

 Maybe next time.

Kern River - The slow part

The river by our campsite was rather fast. The kids enjoyed riding the rapids down stream a little ways. One of the days we decided to go to a part of the river that was slow. This gave everyone a chance to swim and relax in the water with out ending up a mile down stream.

Someone enjoyed relaxing on the raft.

 Building sandcastles was also fun.

These little fish were right at home swimming in the river water.

Trail of 100 Giants

This last weekend we went camping near the Sequoia National Forest. It was very hot but we were camping by a river and so we stayed cool. On the first day we were there we went hiking on the Trail of 100 Giants up in the Sequoia Forest
This tree was fun because we could climb inside. S and J thought it would have made a cool fort for them to play in.

  Inside the tree.

 Hiking with friends.
It was a fun little hike and the girls enjoyed climbing in and on the trees.
