Estes Park

One of our fist adventures in Colorado was Estes Park. My sister has wanted to take me here for quite a while. It is a mountain town that has cute shops and a pathway along a river. We decided to walk along the river until we found a slower moving part of the river where we decided to dip our toes in. The water was very cold, but S assured me that you get used to it if you get in. Here is our crew as we started our walk.
Cbob and D were the first to brave the freezing mountain waters.

This little guy actually reached in and grabbed a little fish. We had a hard time convincing him to put it back in the water. He wanted to take it home for a pet.
My sister Gret and her crew had to leave us after lunch, but Joy and I were not ready to return home. We decided to take the tram to the top of the mountains where we heard we could feed the chipmunks. We thought it was a good idea until they crammed 12 of us on this tiny little tram car. We were a little nervous with so many little ones, but we made it, and the views were beautiful.

We filled our day with so much fun, the car ride home was filled with sleeping little ones.

Carpinteria

We had another wonderful week at Carpinteria. We spent our days at the beach playing in the sand and the waves, and our evenings around the campfire. S and J enjoyed riding bikes with their cousins around the campsite, and S was brave enough to jump in the waves this year.

One of my favorite parts of our week at the beach, was waking up early and walking to the tide pools. The tide was unusually low this year and many rocks were uncovered that are usually under water. We saw Star fish and a very large crab.

It was overcast for most of the morning, but by late afternoon the sun was out.

Lilly Bear, the dog from the campsite next to us, was S and J's favorite part of Carpinteria. They loved holding and loving on her. They also loved climbing the tree that was in our campsite.

We look forward to this trip every year!
